Know before you go
- Book ahead
- Several tubing hills sell timed sessions and fill on weekends and holidays. Reserve online before you drive up.
- Sno-Parks
- Taylor Creek, Blackwood Canyon and Echo Lake are free to play, but parking needs a California Sno-Park permit: $15 for a day or $40 for the season. Buy it online before you go; it is not sold at the lots.
- Unofficial hills
- Use groomed areas where you can. If you stop elsewhere, park with all four tires inside the white line, never block gates, and pack out every broken sled.
- Roads
- Carry chains. Storms close or restrict Highway 50, Highway 89 and I-80 with little notice.
